The advent of online
shopping is a huge benefit for retailers and consumers alike. That is why
an increasing number of firms are choosing to implement these services. They
are able to reach a wide variety of customers thanks to the Internet.
The US department store Marshalls
has recently announced that it will be finally opening an e-store. This
facility will be launched during the year. The products it will offer are
slightly different from its physical outlets. The firm has not revealed much
information so far. However, Ernie Herrman, the CEO of TJX Companies, its
parent organisation, told investors that the firm is planning for a launch date
in "the back half of this year”.
Most of the products will be similar as those in the
brick-and-mortar outlets. Nonetheless, there will be some differences in the
offerings. Herrman stated that “we look at [the online store] as
complementary”. Some advance that it will offer interesting deals on clothing,
home goods and other categories of items. The CEO also denied rumours that the
physical outlets will be closing. He said that he and his team are hoping for
the opposite. They expect that the launch of Marshalls online
shopping will drive more foot traffic to the brick-and-mortar stores.
