The grocery chain store Sainsbury’s has introduced a checkout-free payment facility at one
of its outlet. This system is currently being tested and it will develop the
firm’s SmartShop Scan and Pay &
Go technology. Thanks to this cashless settlement infrastructure,
shoppers will be able to pay for products via their smartphone. The trial is
taking place at the refurbished Holborn Circus convenience store in London.
Tills and checkout areas have been removed from the shop. Sainsbury’s
has also added a helpdesk for clients wishing to settle their bill with their
cards or cash.
Sainbury’s London store is now checkout free
