Online shopping: Ikea launches an e-platform in Luxembourg

Residents of Luxembourg can benefit from several online shopping perks. Recently, Ikea has opened its official e-store in the country. The launch in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg follows one year after the Swedish furniture store rolled out one such platform in Belgium.

Previously, those living in Luxembourg has to order goods from the firm via the Belgian or German e-commerce websites. Now, they have their own online Ikea store. Those shopping from the site can choose opt for home delivery services. Moreover, they could only opt for the click & collect option. This implied that they had to collect their items in the city of Arlen, Belgium since the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg does not have a physical outlet. When the furniture firm delivers an item which was ordered online to someone residing in Luxembourg, the product will come from the Arlen store itself. This is a huge benefit customers since they no longer have to go to great length to have their product.

When the online Ikea store was opened in Belgium, business was quite slow. However, the e-commerce manager of this area advanced that he is now quite happy with the results. 3.4 percent of the company’s revenue was generated through its e-store.
