McDonald’s partners with DoorDash for delivery

Previously, McDonald’s was in partnership with Uber Eats exclusively. According to CNBC, this is no longer the case. The fast-food company has added DoorDash as delivery partner.

Since 2017, UberEats has handled the firm’s delivery on its own in around 64 percent of its outlets in the US. However, according to Chris Kempczinski, McDonald’s U.S. head, it only accounts for approximately 2 to 3 percent of its total business. Before Uber went public, the restaurant company was trying to get it to lower commission fees. Reports advance that firms pay around 15 to 30 percent to Uber Eats for delivery. However, the latter said that it charges some chains a lower fee to be able to work with them.

The move to DoorDash will begin on the 29th of July. The operations will start in Houston, Texas in more than 200 restaurants. Kempczinski advanced, “Building on the success of McDelivery in the U.S., we’re excited to make McDelivery accessible to customers on DoorDash, which is available in all 50 states and reaches 80 percent of Americans, making it even more convenient for our customers to enjoy their favourite McDonald’s menu items on their terms”. The fast-food outlet’s menu will be available on DoorDash’s subscription service. Members will receive unlimited free delivery on orders that are $12 or more.
