The aerial rideshare
service Uber Elevate has announced
that it will start a fast food delivery service by drone later this summer in
San Diego. However, the destinations won’t be houses or apartment buildings.
Instead, there will be designated safe
landing zones. These will include the roof of a parked Uber vehicle. A
courier will receive the package and will hand deliver it to the consumer. One
of the firm’s partners is McDonald’s.
It has been developing special packaging to keep the food hot and intact during
the aerial portion of a delivery.
