Cashless payments and biometrics will be introduced at the Olympics

It was recently announced that innovative technologies such as cashless payments will be introduced at the 2020 Olympics games in Tokyo. The financial firm behind this has previously experimented with different solutions such as wearables at this international game event. For next year’s edition, biometric authentication, mobile applications and digitally-issued cards will be explored. This move is part of the ‘Cashless Japan’ initiative conducted by the Japanese Government. This aims to double digital payments to 40% of all transactions in the country by 2025.
