Digital payments tested for garment factory workers

A financial firm has announced that it is going to test digital payments for garment factory workers. Following a pilot, employees with apparel makers such as Levi Strauss & Co., Marks & Spencer, VF Corp., and nonprofit BSR (Business for Social Responsibility) will transition from cash to computerised wages. Partner organisations will roll out this new service in some factories in Egypt and Cambodia. Hybrid systems, consisting of either prepaid, debit cards or digital wallets, will be used to give workers their digital paychecks. They will be offered financial training as well.
