McDonald’s introduces a 1st exclusive e-commerce shop

According to a press release, McDonald’s has opened a first of its kind e-commerce store. This will sell brand-themed merchandise that would not be available anywhere else.

This new service is called “Golden Arches Unlimited”. It has already been rolled out and it offers holiday-themed items such as sesame seed and Happy Meal Christmas tree ornaments, a red-and-green sweater and a winter beanie. General apparel and accessories such as T-shirts, hair ties and Pop Sockets will also be on sale. The restaurant firm has revealed that the shop is going to feature seasonal items throughout the year and sold-out offerings will be available there.

This permanent e-commerce destination for merchandise demonstrates Mc Donald’s efforts to position itself as a lifestyle brand that goes beyond fast-food operations. Moreover, Golden Arches Unlimited might soon become a serious side business for the brand. It will help the firm gain more information on its loyal customers and this could also be leveraged for marketing during busy retail periods such as the holidays when consumers look for unique gifts for others.

This move follows McDonald’s attempts to expand its delivery services. The chain has recently dropped partner exclusivity and has partnered with firms such Grubhub and Uber Eats to meet consumers’ demands for digital convenience.
