Social media: influencer marketing and improved customer service

As part of the series exploring social media trends, this post will look at the rise of influencer marketing and how customer service will be enhanced.

Influencer marketing
According to a study, 59% of marketers intend to expand their influencer marketing budget in 2020. Since consumers are increasingly exposed to ads, they are very careful before buying an item. Thus, they seek reviews from people trust before completing a deal. While some customers turn to their friends and family, a lot of internet users look for feedback from famous people they follow on social media. These can be celebrities, niche artists or experts in specific fields. The good thing for small startups with a limited budget is that 2020 will see the growth of ‘micro-influencers’ who will help them compete with bigger companies.

Enhanced customer service
This is linked to the expansion of chatbots. Nowadays, when consumers contact a brand, they expect an answer in the least amount of time. While it can be difficult for a company to offer live 24/7 customer service, a combination of chatbots, live staff and other technologies can greatly help. Employees can save a lot of time if digital systems are responsible to answer common questions. They can instead look at more complicated issues that would require a personal touch.
