ASOS launches a new augmented reality tool to help shoppers

While online shopping is one of the best things for fashionistas, it can also cause quite some disappointment, especially when buying clothes. The product may not be as in the picture or worst, it might not be the perfect fit. To find a solution to this situation, ASOS has developed a new feature.

To do so, it has collaborated with an augmented reality firm. Together, they have designed a tool called “See My Fit”. This gives shoppers the opportunity to view an item on several models of different sizes and heights. According to reports, customers will be able to see a simulated image. This means that the models would not actually be wearing the clothes but instead the designs would have been digitally fitted onto their bodies. As such, while buyers will have a better view, it would not be completely accurate.

The senior content manager at ASOS Studios advanced, “With this trial of See My Fit, we’re using the latest AR technology to put the power in our customers’ hands, so they can choose to view a dress on the model that they most identify with in a way that wouldn’t be possible using traditional model-shooting techniques”. Currently, ASOS is only testing the feature. This means that it can be utilised on just over 40 dresses.
