Fashion Week has just gone by in New York and shoppers are
constantly thinking about changing their wardrobe. Fashionistas are always on
the lookout for new styles and others might simply need a suit or a chic dress.
Technological development has shown that augmented
reality is going to play a huge role in how people purchase clothes.
Several brands, and the list keeps increasing, are giving
customers more ways to try out a new wardrobe. In 2019, a tech called ‘try-before-you-buy’ was introduced. It
was powered by augmented reality and was utilised by 100 million shoppers. It
is expected that this number will continue to grow in 2020. Moreover, the
market research firm ‘International Data Corporation’ has carried out a study
which advanced that this year, the retail industry is going to spend no less
than $1.5 billion on augmented and virtual reality technologies.
The e-commerce brand ASOS is making the most of these
features. The company has just launched a program called ‘See
My Fit’. This allows customers to virtually try on 800 different
dresses. It is based on an app that displays clothing items on models that more
closely reflect individual customers. This means that models of all shapes and
sizes are being utilised. Thus, the shopping experience is more inclusive.
