The e-commerce giant Amazon
is investing quite some time and energy in physical retail. The company has
decided to launch its first 4-Star store in the Washington area at Westfield
Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, Maryland. An opening date has not been revealed
yet.
It is going to take the space that was formerly occupied by
Furniture Place. This is located on the mall’s lower level in the Nordstrom
corridor. This is not the first Amazon 4-Star
store. The firm already has 12 such outlets in other cities. They sell
devices like Fire and Kindle, books and featured merchandise rated very highly
on the online shopping site. Nonetheless, it is still hiring for the Bethesda
mall location. A spokesperson said to, “Stay tuned for additional details down
the road”. Moreover, the giant is planning to open 10 other 4-Star stores.
Speaking about its physical retail expansion, it is
noteworthy to mention that Amazon
currently has two bookstores in the D.C. market, one on M Street in Georgetown
and another one in Bethesda Row. Additionally, it has its checkout free Go
grocery stores in Chicago, New York, San Francisco and Seattle. This next
venture might be a success for the e-commerce giant since Montgomery
mall is currently ‘reinventing’ itself.
