It seems as if Bitcoin
is finally taking off. While there were some apprehensions regarding it,
according to Digital Currency Index, it is now officially recognised as a form
of money in France.
Those in France can now use the cryptocurrency as if it is a Euro. Anything in the country can be
bought with it. This move was implemented after a decision taken by the
Commercial Court of Nanterre. The institution reached a ruling in a case
between the Paymium cryptocurrency exchange and BitSpread, an alternative
investment firm located in the UK. There was a dispute between the two companies
regarding the ownership of the virtual currency. However, it was decided that
the latter was entitled to the Bitcoin Cash created. This is the legitimate
form of money developed. Following this resolution, France could complete the
required procedures so that consumers can use the virtual currency to
buy products. Nonetheless, it might not be readily utilised by customers and
some shops still have to set up the necessary infrastructure.
It is not the first country to make such a move. Germany,
India and South Korea have recently taken such decisions as well. As such, it
seems as if there is a growing support for cryptocurrency
in general across the globe.
