E-commerce: Erykah Badu launches her online store


Are you a fan of Erykah Badu? This American singer specialises in the R&B, neo-soul and hip-hop genres and has been part of the music industry since 1994. To her followers’ great pleasure, the artist has joined the e-commerce sector to launch a clothing store.

The outlet was introduced on the 20th of February, two days before the artist’s annual birthday bash. One of the reasons behind this venture is to give her fans the opportunity to enjoy the things she loves. Moreover, it is also intended as supportive community for all the artists and designers with whom she has worked with throughout her career. Customers can get access to several items such as floor-length faux fur coats. However, Erykah Badu has insisted that instead of creating an unobtainable lifestyle brand, she wants to make clients feel “as cool and comfortable as she does in a backward hoodie”. When speaking of the online shopping site, she says “It’s a place where movements are created. Because when you’re being introduced to new art, new visuals, or creative concepts that have been repurposed even, it sparks creativity and it creates dialogue in the arts community”.

This is not the artist’s first venture in the fashion industry. In 2008, she became the face of fashion designer Tom Ford White Patchouli fragrance and in 2016 she made her New York Fashion Week debut alongside designer Kerby Jean-Raymond.
