Messenger is launched on Mac App store in several countries

In 2019, at the F8 developer conference, Facebook announced that it is going to introduce a desktop application for Messenger. Now, in less than a year, the firm is rolling a Mac App for the messaging platform. It is already available in various non-US markets.

A spokesperson has advanced that it is not confirmed whether this system will be available in the US since it is still in the testing stage. It is not yet “a full launch” and they do not have an approximate release date for it either. The firm is still gathering feedback from its users. Currently, customers in France, Mexico, Poland, Australia and a few other regions can access this new application. The full list of countries can be found on the company’s website.

What does the Mac desktop version offer? The features are similar to those that smartphone users can enjoy. Besides texting, the app even includes support for voice and video chat. You can also communicate with groups of people, share files, use emojis and enable dark mode.

The Mac desktop app has been built using Electron which is a popular way of designing applications for personal computers. However, it is not the most secure option to do so.
