Social commerce: what are the main platforms utilised?

According to a study, there are three main social commerce platforms used by merchants. These are Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest. However, other apps and sites are emerging. For instance, Snapchat added a shopping channel called “Shop and Cop”. This allows mobile users to browse products and complete a purchase directly within the application instead of being redirected to another website. Let us have a look at the innovative features offered by the three most used social networks.

Facebook
Besides the traditional buying ads offered by the site, retailers can also change the design of their pages to a shopping template. You will have to provide a few details, such as your products, locations and payment services, about your business. After that, you simply add an item and a Facebook Shop is created.

Instagram
Since this site is owned by Facebook, you just need a few more steps to join Instagram social commerce. You should just ensure that you have a business account and connect it to your Facebook account through the settings.

Pinterest
Last year, this company rebranded its third-party partner solution ‘Pinterest Partners’ to include more experiences. Now services such as advertising, content marketing, measurement, creative and shopping in more categories are available.
