If you live in Lincoln or you are passing by and you have an
electric car, you will be pleased to know that the retail giant Tesco offers free charging facilities
at its Extra store on Wragby Road.
The firm has implemented 7 kW charging points which owners
of electric vehicles made by any manufacturer can use without paying any fee.
They just have to download the Pod Point
app, plug in the charger and confirm the charge. An average car will be able to
get around 22.5 miles to drive if they use this service while they are
completing their weekly purchases. This has been possible thanks to a
partnership between Volkswagen, Tesco and Pod Point.
There have been speculations that Tesco is planning to roll
out 2400 free charging points across the nation. They will be installed
at up to 600 outlets over the next three years. Studies have revealed that
registrations for electric vehicles have increased by 200% this year and
research from Volkswagen advanced that 69% of people think companies in the UK
should put in more effort to encourage motorists to switch to these cars.
Speaking about this, the brand manager for Lincoln Volkswagen said, “We’re
committed to improving e-mobility and are proud to have teamed up with Tesco
and Pod
Point to provide free charging points in Lincoln”.
Tesco plans to introduce more such charging points
