Amazon’s new online grocery shoppers are put on a waitlist

Considering the huge increase in its grocery pickup and delivery services, Amazon is introducing new measures to be able to keep up with demands. The firm has been experiencing considerable strain to complete all orders.

The e-commerce giant has now announced that it is going to ask new customers using its Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market delivery and pickup to sign up a waitlist if they are interested to continue shopping. A number of waitlisted clients will then be invited to complete their purchases every week as the company increases its capacity to fulfil online orders.

Additionally, Amazon is also going to adjust store hours for some of its Whole Foods locations so that its staff can focus on fulfilling online grocery orders. Moreover, one of its outlets will be temporarily closed to foot traffic so that it can be used as an online shop only.

Ever since the pandemic began, Amazon has been introducing new measures to address the increase in consumer demand. For instance, it expanded online grocery pick-up from 80 stores to over 150 in the last several weeks. It has also been releasing delivery windows throughout the day so that it is easier for customers to access their options from both the Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market homepages.
