Unprecedented times call for unprecedented measures! Facebook has, without much publicity,
released a new app for couples. The multimedia messaging system, named Tuned,
has been designed to help significant others communicate.
Currently, the application can be downloaded by those living
in the US and in Canada. It was developed and launched by the firm’s New
Product Experimentation (NPE) team. This means that if it is not successful,
the app will be quickly removed from the market. During a period when couples
are being forced to be in the house on a 24-hour basis, this mobile app might be helpful in allowing them
to communicate better to avoid conflicts. Moreover, it can be even more
interesting for partners who do not live together and are having to rely on
digital tools to remain connected to their loved ones.
While it is essentially a messaging system, Tuned is more
focused on pushing updates and stickers to a singular person and its feed is
described as having a ‘scrapbook’ style. The app can be integrated with Spotify
so that songs can be shared and widgets can be used to demonstrate what one is
doing or feeling. Experts have advanced that one of its most interesting
features is “the sheer lack of Facebook
tie-ins”.
