In various parts of the world, financially excluded consumers are able to benefit from mobile money services. These cashless payment solutions are thriving and the main reason behind this is the establishment of a regulatory environment. Indeed, studies have proven that there is a correlation between this and a high mobile money adoption rate. As advanced by the chief regulatory officer of GSMA, rules that enable “low-cost services for the financially excluded [have] been crucial to the success of” this payment industry.
