Considering how people are experiencing difficulties to
obtain groceries and other products, Sayers
Common Community Shop has decided to do everything in its power to help
those living in Sussex.
The outlet is owned and run by the community which is making
sure that all villagers are able to gain access to food and vital goods.
Currently, the shop is operating on reduced hours because of a lack of staff
and self-isolation guidelines that
have been implemented during the crisis. It is open from 9am - 3pm and the shop
manager Jane Cheshire is using local suppliers to keep the outlet stocked up.
As such, villagers can purchase fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products,
groceries, meat, frozen food and bakery items easily.
Moreover, to help out more villagers, the shop has compiled
a list of vulnerable and self-isolating people who cannot move around. It is
obtaining and delivering prescription items and is taking orders for goods via
telephone. As such, thanks to its delivery service, even those who
cannot get out will not experience difficulties.
Those living in Sussex are very grateful for the effort being
deployed by Sayers Common Community Shop.
One shopper advanced, “Jane keeps the doors open with an iron resolve to continue
to support the community”.
