The MD of the shopper agency Outform advanced that brands are going to have to provide people with “more reasons than ever to visit shops”. They must give them confidence to go to stores by making safety a priority. The director at online vape retailer VPZ supported these claims. He said that the high street is going to see new measures such as limiting the number of customers in stores at one time. Shops should make sure that clients can purchase items safely. Otherwise, they will “face a huge problem with consumer confidence”.

Moreover, he advanced that retailers have to remind shoppers of the importance of physical retail. They must offer an experience that cannot be enjoyed online and this can be done by focussing on client service, staff expertise and customer experience. These features are now vital if brands want to attract buyers to their outlets. He said, “People have been used to buying without interactions so [there must be] a stronger focus on making the customer welcome and providing the best products or services you can”.
