Lidl introduces in-store lockers to help online shoppers

Since people cannot move around much, Lidl has introduced a new service that e-shoppers will love. It has implemented in-store lockers that will allow clients to pick up the products they ordered on the Web when they visit the supermarket. This will help them maximise their grocery shopping trip.

This new service is a result of a collaboration with the parcel locker provider InPost. It has rolled out its delivery and collection solutions to 24 Lidl stores across the UK. As such, when you order online from a wide range of retailers, such as Boohoo, JD Group and Holland & Barrett, you can get your products shipped there and pick them up when you get your supplies for the week. The lockers can also be used to return purchases or send parcels via Hermes, DHL and DX. To access these storage units, shoppers will have to utilise a QR code on their smartphone.

Currently, Lidl stores in London, Birmingham and Manchester are equipped with these lockers. These are perfect for the situation that we are in since they enable a contact-free delivery method which allows customers to avoid human interaction and maintain social distancing. Moreover, according to InPost “combining errands and choosing parcel lockers instead of home delivery also benefits the environment”.
