Amazon: check out Prime Air, its secret drone delivery service

Did you know that Amazon has a drone delivery service in motion? If not, this is not a surprise since the firm tries as hard as possible to keep this project a secret.

Why is the e-commerce giant so protective of this solution? Well, there is a huge amount of attention drawn to Amazon’s futuristic plans. Additionally, there is a lot of competition in the drone industry in general. As such, the firm wants to make sure that its latest design or technology does not leak. As such, it has been conducting tests in employees’ backyards to collect real-world data. Moreover, the workers have been using fake team names to hide their affiliations. For instance, instead of Prime Air, this endeavour was sometimes referred to as “Project Venice”.

To keep the drone delivery service as secret as possible, the firm has been saving important documents in a separate back-end system under a more secure password. Team members use a black shield that covers their company ID cards and they are forbidden from sharing the exact location of their office. It is known to be in a nondescript building in the greater Seattle area. Because of this secretive culture regarding Prime Air, an isolated organisation, detached from the main headquarters was created.
