Those in Scotland have been waiting for this news for quite
a long time! They can now use online shopping services thanks to the Big Co-op in Brodick.
Residents living on the island are now able to order
groceries using their phones or tablets. After that, they can either collect
the products or have them delivered to their doorstep. Customers have been
requesting for this service for quite a long time. Following their demands, the
company conducted a trial in Brodick for two weeks. After that, this facility
was extended to Lamlash and it is being rolled out across the island. It is
expected that this new online shopping solution will replace the existing pick, pack and delivery system which is
only available by email or phone.
However, this remains to be seen because this option has
proven to be indispensable to those who have been self-isolating and shielding
during the pandemic. It processed as many as 500 orders per week. As such, the
firm advanced that it will be maintained as long as it is required.
Speaking about this facility, Co-op’s
manager Liz McLean said that the online shopping service is available on
a 24 hour basis and that they are creating new jobs to be able to deliver all
around the island.
