As advanced in a previous article, Amazon has introduced smart shopping carts that allow you to skip
lines. It seems as if that the firm is placing a lot of importance on
cashier-less systems.
This is not the first time that the e-commerce giant has
used innovative technologies instead of traditional checkout solutions. For
instance, a couple of years back, it launched Amazon Go stores. These rely on
cameras, scanners, and other features to track what customers purchase. Then,
payments are processed through a mobile app.
It seems as if that
this Dash Cart system has leveraged
some of the Amazon Go store tech which has been shrunk down to a compact and
versatile size. Since the basket is doing all the work, there is no need to
install cameras, sensors and scanners in an entire shop.
Some experts are advancing that the Dash Cart is a trial of
a new product that the e-commerce giant will sell in its Just Walk Out
technology bundle. Indeed, Amazon is offering its cashier-less tools to other
retailers since there is quite some interest in these innovations. For
instance, earlier this year, the hospitality group OTG revealed it would use
firm's Just Walk
Out technology in some CIBO Express Gourmet Markets.
