Seemingly the first supermarket in the UK to do so, Asda has announced that it is going to
introduce a new ambient vegan aisle. These will be implemented at all of its 359
stores and will feature more than a hundred products.
According to the firm, the range of items will be showcased
in two bays and will exclusively be goods derived from plants. One of them will
be for savoury products such as proteins, cooking sauces and condiments and the
other will feature snacks and sweets. The merchandise that will be stocked
includes Asda’s own-label rice and lentil bowls, other brands like Mrs
Crimble’s, Vego and Galaxy which will
offer two exclusive chocolate flavours. There will also be a special falafel
mix from Bosh. Product prices are going to be ‘market leading’.
This new layout is going to considerably simplify the buying
process for vegans which will allow them to save time. Asda’s buying manager
Sarah Thornewill, advanced, “We understand that customers want a quick and
simple shopping experience, and this shouldn’t be restricted by dietary
requirements”.
The supermarket company is also hoping that merchandising
all vegan
products together will offer clients inspiration, whether they are
following a plant-based diet or they just wish to reduce their meat
consumption.
