Even if lockdown regulations have been lifted in the UK,
some consumers are still wary about going out. Indeed, firms are adopting
additional security protocols to ensure the protection of everyone. Having this
idea in mind, Costa Coffee has
decided to test a new system.
The company has redesigned the format of one of its stores
near Oxford Street. It is mainly focussed on an ‘on-the-go’ and delivery model. Thus, its serving
counter will be facing the street to cater to customers getting a takeaway
beverage. Additionally, clients have the opportunity to pre-order drinks via Costa
Coffee’s mobile ordering service on its club app. If this new format is
successful, it is very probable that it will be extended to other locations and
this might help Costa Coffee recover from the losses it has experienced.
The global retail director at Costa Coffee,
Connie Emerson advanced that this new type of store and the digital-only
ordering service will suit both customers who wish to have a seat and have a
hot drink while catching up with friends and those who just want a quick coffee
and limited contact with others. He said, “It is about giving a choice to
consumers to enjoy the way they are most comfortable in”.
