The delivery company Hermes
has decided to step up its game. The firm has introduced the mapping technology
what3words. It is the first carrier in the UK to do so.
What is this system? This tech divides the world into a grid
of 3m squares. Each one of these can be identified via a unique combination of
three words. These will act as addresses which Hermes will be able to use when
processing the shipping of products from retailers offering this format at
checkout. Some examples are AO and ASOS.
Moreover, those using the Hermes mobile app will have the
possibility of adding their what3words
address to their profile. This, in addition to the already existing
information, will allow drivers to find their house more easily for every
subsequent order. The parcel will be dispatched at that precise 3m square
recorded.
Chris Ashworth, the CIO at Hermes UK revealed that they had
been planning to introduce this innovative facility for quite some time.
Nonetheless, considering the huge growth following the pandemic, they have
decided to expedite its use. He advances that this will enhance their contact-free
delivery services. This is incredibly important at a time when consumers
are looking for efficient and safe shipping solutions. Thanks to what3words,
deliveries will be more seamless and accurate.
