With the increase in the number of coronavirus cases, companies
have decided to introduce more security protocols. This is being done by Morrisons. The firm has implemented new
features at all of its 494 supermarkets across the UK.
To make sure that customers feel safe, the retailer is going
to place welcoming cleaning stations
at store entrances. These will contain antibacterial wipes for baskets and
trolleys and hand sanitiser. However, that is not all. The supermarket company
has a whole new set of additional procedures. For instance, all outlets will
receive three-week deep-clean, more equipment, and cleaning staff. Before
investing in these, Morrisons had already spent £25 million to implement safety
systems like such as Perspex screens, PPE for colleagues, floor markings and
visible signage during the lockdown.
This programme has led to the creation of thousands of jobs
across the country. On the 14th of September, 2240 new cleaning
roles were introduced. For example, there will be a Market Street Hygiene
Assistant in all stores - to clean food preparation areas. This will ensure
that Morrisons
foodmakers do not have to worry about anything and can concentrate on making
fresh quality products for its butcher, baker, fishmonger, deli, greengrocer
and florist departments. Additionally, there will be more people to clean
different areas of the supermarkets.
