The supermarket company Lidl
has announced that it is going to open a new store in Shieldfield. This will
see the creation of 40 more jobs in the area. Currently a public consultation
is underway for the firm to build a multi-million pound outlet. It will be on
an undeveloped land just off Stoddart Street and will have innovative features.
The company is waiting for plans to be approved, after
which, construction for a new 2,149 sqm shop will begin. According to the supermarket,
this location will have state-of-the-art facilities such as in-store bakery or customer toilets.
There will even be 85 parking spaces, including for disabled, parent and child
and electric charging spaces.
Residents can already have a glimpse of the store that will open
via a public consultation. The firm’s regional head of property, David Murphy,
said, “We are very excited about the prospect of opening a new store in
Shieldfield, serving our fresh, quality and great value produce to the
community, which shoppers across the country have come to love”.
He further advanced that they plan on creating 40 positions
which would definitely help the local economy. As such, Lidl
is hoping that a maximum number of individuals is able to join the virtual
public consultation where they will be discussing about their plans with
everyone.
