M&S introduces a new checkout system in its UK stores

Adopting innovation, M&S has rolled out a new technology in its stores across the UK. This system is already quite popular. It is a checkout-free solution called ‘Mobile Pay Go’.

This new feature will be integrated within the firm’s application. Those using this will be able to scan their products while they are walking around in the shop and the payment will be completed via a pre-saved card or Apple Pay. Nonetheless, there is a cap of £45 on transactions. After that, they just have to leave the store without visiting a checkout till.

Along with the announcement of this news, the retailer has advanced that it is just one of their many efforts to deliver new digital services. These are designed to help customers shop without worrying during the festive period. For instance, recently, another facility was launched across its outlets in the country. It is called ‘Sparks Book & Shop’ and has facilitated over 81,000 shopping slots for customers.

The supermarket has been trialling ‘contact-free shopping’ in its stores since the beginning of the pandemic. While this was tested in 50 outlets in March, following extensive positive customer feedback, M&S has expanded it to 300 more shops in the UK and then it went for a national rollout.
