The supermarket company Aldi
has been announced as the cheapest shop to get your Christmas produce.
The consumer group Which?
has revealed this news after conducting a study. Every month, this organisation
tracks supermarket prices to determine the cheapest grocery store in the UK.
The research includes outlets such as Aldi, Lidl, Asda, Morrisons, Tesco,
Sainsbury’s, Ocado and Waitrose. The survey compared prices for a trolley of 22
items, which costs £21.28 on average at Aldi. The most expensive shop is Waitrose,
where a similar basket costs £31.56. According to Which?, a typical trolley of
groceries at Aldi is between 11 and 22% cheaper than the same shop at any of the
Big Four supermarkets
Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi advanced
that the firm is aware that Christmas might be a difficult time for some
families. As such, they are proud that they are able to provide clients with the
best value groceries in the UK. She said, “It is possible to make savings
without compromising on quality; this is why millions of Brits continue to
choose Aldi
to do their weekly shop, and it’s why we’ll ensure we keep providing the best
quality products at the best possible prices”.
