The company Asda has
announced that it is going to close all of its stores in the UK on Christmas
and Boxing Day. This will give its staff the opportunity to stay at home with
their family, which is well-deserved after such a challenging year. It has also
confirmed that workers will receive a great bonus as reward.
Despite the fact this is their busiest time of the year, the
supermarket firm has felt that it was
important to give as many people as possible the ability spend time with their
loved ones. It is very probable that they have not seen each other for months.
Thus, its outlets will not reopen until the 27th of December. This
news was applauded by various individuals on social media. Nonetheless,
shoppers must complete all of their Christmas shopping on the eve, on
which day Asda stores will close at 7pm. Moreover, in the spirit of rewarding
its staff, the company has announced that hourly-paid employees will receive
100% of their bonus entitlement. However, this will be settled in February
2021.
Customers are also reminded to respect Christmas
opening times. Asda’s CEO Roger Burnley said, “As you know, the
strict guidelines set out by the government will change between 23 and 27
December and more households will be able to gather together”.
