A new online marketplace has been launched by a businessman
in New Forest. Called Buy Britain,
this aims to create more jobs. As such, its benefits will be two-fold: it is
going to keep British skills alive and it will allow consumers to find and
support local companies selling quality goods easily.
Research suggests that more people are going to “buy
British” after Brexit. Thus, there is
an increase in demand for both makers to market and shoppers to purchase items
made in the UK. As such, the entrepreneur Michael Oszmann has set up, built and
is running the website “Buy Britain”. The site offers a selection of goods made
locally and it is growing every day. Currently, there are more than 300 products
available. The goods range across several categories: accessories, clothes,
handbags, cookware, electricals, food, drink, furniture, garden products,
gifts, homeware, health, beauty and jewellery. Since shoppers are interacting
directly with sellers, they are able to enjoy flexible and low-cost options.
Additionally, sellers can join the online marketplace
for free. There are no set-up fees involved. They just have to pay a small
commission when they make a sale. They can also market their products
internationally. Its CEO advanced, “As the community of sellers grow, the Buy Britain
platform will become even more valuable for everyone involved”.
