Family shopping could be banned under stricter lockdown rules

While supermarkets have already introduced strict security protocols following government regulations and the lockdown, things might start getting more serious. Indeed, it has been announced that family shopping might soon be banned.

In a bid to reduce the number of people in stores at a time, firms might be forced to introduce a ‘shop alone’ policy. In fact, some of the big names in the UK are already encouraging clients not to come to outlets in large groups. However, the government might soon implement stricter regulations. This move was hinted at by an official who advanced, “We‘re looking at ways to make supermarkets as safe as possible for both shoppers and the people who work there”. He also said that some consumers see grocery shopping trips as some forms of outing. They go out in groups and “end up talking to friends whom they bump into while there”. This is not quite safe, considering the situation that we are in.

As part of the stricter regulations, shops will also be required to introduce more sanitising stations. However, there are concerns that these new rules will put more pressure on supermarket bosses. Already, outlets such as Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury's are banning people with no face masks.
