Supermarkets: the rules about ‘touching’ in stores

It can be quite difficult to keep up with the constantly changing rules in supermarkets because of the coronavirus pandemic. This article will inform you about the different regulations concerning ‘touching’ in stores.

Sainsbury’s
Like all firms, this grocery store has been introducing several measures to make sure that its staff members and clients remain safe when purchasing essential products. As such, wherever possible it is encouraging contactless payments. The limit for card transactions is £30-45. Moreover, it has placed sanitising stations across all its outlets.

Tesco
This firm has no specific rules about touching items in its stores. However, those not having a mask will not be allowed in any Tesco outlet and customers are asked to make good use of the sanitising stations at their disposal.

Asda
The guidance issued by Asda is pretty direct. So, it should not be too hard to follow. The firm has clearly stated, “Please touch less, where you can”. Moreover, hand-sanitising stations are placed in outlets for customers to use.

Aldi
The budget retailer has asked customers to avoid unnecessary touching of trolleys, food and packaging. Shoppers are also encouraged to wash their hands regularly and to only touch what they are buying. However, Aldi has not issued specific rules on this.
