The beauty company POND’S
has announced that it is planning to double its e-commerce business over the
next five years. Its goal is to expand its operations in the South East Asian
region.
Even if it felt the impact of the coronavirus pandemic,
things were not so bad for the brand. Its global VP advanced that the “beauty
market shrank by double-digits”. Nonetheless, this did not stop them from
gaining share comparatively. This is because the number of sales conducted
online compensated for the decrease. Indeed, like most firms POND’S saw a shift
towards e-commerce among its customers.
Considering the fact that online shopping is here to stay, the company has decided to focus
on this. The VP announced, “E-commerce as a segment is something that we’ve
seen exploding. Our biggest goal is to make sure we double the share of
e-commerce towards our contributing business in the next 5 years”. Moreover, to
ensure that it is able to offer consumers a quality service, it is introducing
new technologies.
In December 2020, POND’S rolled out Skin
Advisor Live (SAL). This is a chatbot that is powered by artificial
intelligence and it gives customers product recommendations. This system is
already available in the South East Asian market.
