Asda launches its first ever loyalty club

The second largest grocer in the UK, Asda, is introducing a new facility for its clients. The firm is going to launch its first loyalty club ever since its opening 72 years ago. This move comes as the Issa Brothers are planning to take over the business in a multi-billion dollar deal.

The supermarket chain is currently owned by Walmart. It is expected to roll out this new scheme later on during the year while the whole country will be trying to recover from the coronavirus lockdown. The Sun first talked about this loyalty club which is expected to offer shoppers money off groceries, both in stores and online. This system is a much more improved version of ‘George Rewards’. This is to give perks to clients who purchase products from its clothing line.

Details about how this program is going to operate have not been revealed yet. Nonetheless, it is clear that it will not be similar to Asda’s Christmas Savings Card. The latter allows shoppers to save and earn cash rewards in the run up to the festival.

The new scheme is most likely to function via a mobile app. In any case, as a source confirmed “It would be a move welcomed by customers”. If it will allow us to save some money while shopping at Asda, it would definitely make us happy.
