Without an online shopping service, Primark has been pretty dormant during the lockdown, to the disappointment
of many shoppers. Nonetheless, it seems that customers are going to be pleased
since the brand is planning on a huge re-opening in April.
According to the firm’s estimations, it has lost £1.1bn in
sales because of the latest lockdown
closures and it is going to make up for this by offloading more than £400m of
last year's stock. Moreover, the high street giant has announced that it
will offer more ranges for the new seasons, including spring. This means that
it will sell a mix of new and old lines. So, you do not have to worry about
products that are out of fashion.
Primark has revealed that it is going to reopen its 153
stores in the UK on the 12th of April. In Scotland, customers will
be able to visit shops on the 26th of the same month. Nonetheless,
opening dates for outlets in Wales, the Republic of Ireland and Portugal have
not been revealed yet.
Despite the closure of stores and the loss, Primark
is quite optimistic about the re-opening. Its finance chief, John Bason, said,
“We know that people will welcome us back when we reopen. There is pent-up
demand”.
