With the job losses following the coronavirus pandemic,
people will be pleased to learn that there will be some positions for them. The
national retailer Poundland has
announced that it plans to expand its store network and create 250 new jobs in
the UK.
Since the lockdown restrictions are easing, the firm is
working on the re-opening of its stores across England and Wales. In February,
it brought 29 outlets out of hibernation and on the 12th of April,
it will open the doors of 43 shops. On the same day, 12 PEP&CO standalone fashion stores in both regions will also
start welcoming visitors. All these developments will lead to the creation of
250 jobs by September.
Poundland has also confirmed that it is going to move
forward with a transformation programme that was launched last July. Worth £25m,
this involves new store openings and relocations, store revamps and investment
in its chilled and frozen food distribution network.
Speaking about the re-openings, the managing director of Poundland
said, “It is fantastic news that our high street neighbours are preparing to
get back to business – not just other retailers but the cafés, gyms and
hairdressers who make our town centres the vibrant places people love. We’ve
missed you and are pleased you’re coming back”.
