Stockly lets merchants sell items that are out-of-stock

When you are looking for an item on an e-commerce website and you find that it is out-of-stock, what do you do? You leave the site. This means that the merchant has lost a client. Thanks to Stockly, this will no longer be the case.

If you are a retailer, this start-up would be very beneficial. This is because it allows you to sell items that you currently do not have. It is going to find a third-party supplier with that specific product for you. Moreover, it will even process the order and have it delivered for you. To ensure that you do not lose the client or that he/she is not confused, it asks its partners to use neutral packaging.

This is particularly useful for small e-commerce companies that do not list their products on a marketplace. Amazon already has such a program in place. If a seller lists an out-of-stock item on its own marketplace, it will have it delivered in case a buyer completes a purchase.

The start-up Stockly works with merchants such as Galeries Lafayette, Go Sport and Foot Shop. During a recent funding round, it raised $6 million (€5.1 million). With this money, it plans to expand its team to 20 people, add new clients and iterate on its product.
