Volvo will be selling its electric cars online

The automaker Volvo has been redefining its business operations. Previously, it announced that it plans on becoming a maker of electric cars only by 2030. Now, it is changing the way it is selling its vehicles.

The firm has revealed that all sales will be done online only. As such, if you wish to purchase the new XC40 Recharge P8 and the upcoming C40 Recharge, you will have to head to its website. The company has already launched its no-commitment Care by Volvo subscription scheme and now, following this decision, it is introducing fixed pricing for those who wish to complete their purchase by cash. Moreover, for each car that you buy, you will benefit from a ‘care package’ that includes offerings such as servicing costs and warranty.

This move marks a fundamental shift in the industry and the role of dealerships is being questioned. Volvo’s commercial boss said that the time is right for this change and consumers have been asking for it. Already the firm has some experience in digital sales with ‘Care by Volvo’, which is a scheme available in several countries, including the UK. He advanced that they decided to capitalise on the online shopping growth which followed the outbreak of the coronavirus.
