The social media giant has announced that Facebook Workplace has reached 7
million paid subscribers. This is an increase of 40% in comparison to the 5
million recorded in May 2020.
What is this? It is a business software that firms can use
as their internal social network to communicate with their employees. Introduced
in 2016, it is now being used by big names such as Spotify and Starbucks.
Speaking about this offering, Julien Codorniou, Workplace Vice President,
advanced that his team’s aim is to democratise business IT software to Facebook’s billions of users. They wish to
build services with the same features of the social networking site/app since
people are already familiar with them. He said, “Many people never had access
to IT before because it was too complicated or it was too expensive”. However,
with this software, they will not have difficulties. Facebook has recently
updated the system with several new features. For instance, there is a live
Q&A experience.
Despite this growth, it is worth noting that Workplace
is quite behind its top rivals. For example, last month, Microsoft
announced that its Teams product has more than 145 million daily active users,
which shows an increase of 93% from the 75 million users recorded in April
2020.
