Alibaba launches an event in the UK to help brands grow

The largest cross-border platform in China, Alibaba, has decided to help firms in the UK and Ireland. Its Tmall Global arm is going to launch a virtual event in the region. Called ‘Go Global 11.11 Pitch Fest’, it will allow brands to grow their businesses globally.

In 2020, this project was rolled out in the US and it was a huge success. Now, British and Irish merchants looking to launch their offerings in China can benefit from this. How? Small and medium-sized businesses will have the opportunity to be fast-tracked into the world’s biggest shopping event, the 11.11 Global Shopping Festival by Alibaba. Last year, it generated $74.1bn in GMV. The 2020 edition saw the participation of 31,000 overseas brands. 2600 of those took part for the first time. The event lasted for 11 days and during that time-frame $494m worth of goods from UK businesses were sold. This shows that there is a strong demand for these products among Chinese customers.

If you are an eligible brand and you wish to be part of this, you can register to pitch your offerings to an Alibaba expert panel. Selected participants are going to be fast-tracked and launched on Tmall Global. They will receive first-hand advice and their products will be featured on the marketplace during the festival.
