To our dismay, it seems that all Disney stores in the UK are closing down, with the exception of
only one flagship location found in London.
This all started in June 2021 when there were speculations
going around that all of the firm’s retail outlets in the UK will stop
welcoming customers. Some stories claimed that the shops will be gone by
September. However, WDW News Today
and other blog posts advanced that these were just rumours which allowed fans
to breathe a sigh of relief.
Nonetheless, in May and early June, there were some articles
going around that hinted at the impending closures. It seems true that Disney
Stores are closing in the UK. Even if there is no official confirmation, there
are several reports that the rumours are true. For instance, on May 27, the
outlet at Westfield Stratford location and one in the US will not reopen. On
June 15, the one at Sunderland faced the same fate and during the days that
followed several others closed their doors.
The first Disney
Store saw the light of day in 1987 and it sells a variety of clothing, toys and
other merchandise. Before online shopping became the norm, it was a huge
success.
