Amazon’s effort to reduce e-commerce waste

Retailers across the globe are becoming more conscious of the environment and have been trying to introduce ways to reduce the negative impact of retail, both online and physical, on our surroundings. Amazon has just revealed new ideas with the same aim. Considering that it is a giant in the e-commerce sector, these steps can definitely help things.

The firm has announced that it has introduced two new Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) programs for third-party sellers. This will make it easier for them to resell items that customers have returned or overstock inventory. While this will considerably minimise losses for merchants, it will also give products a second life and avoid waste.

Amazon has uploaded a blog post explaining how the programs would work. It advanced that their aim is “to provide another way for sellers to profit from selling on Amazon while fuelling a circular economy”. The e-commerce giant expects that once they are completely in place, they are going to give more than 300 million products a second life per year.

These two programs are called FBA Liquidations and FBA Grade and Resell and they are currently being tested in specific markets. Learn more about these strategies by Amazon in the following articles posted on this blog.
