In an effort to boost its online capabilities, Marks & Spencer will be introducing
same-day delivery for clothing orders.
The brand is going to be the first big fashion retailer to
process fulfilment of orders so quickly. It is going to be more efficient than
Asos and Next. This is good news for shoppers since they will be able to get school
uniforms, cocktail dresses for evening functions or even some sexy lingerie for
a special night delivered last-minute. They do not have to go to the store;
they just need to shop online.
According to the firm, this move would show brick and mortar retailers how they
can use their outlets to improve their e-commerce offering.
In another news, Marks & Spencer has announced that it
is going to close 100 of its 1000 outlets as a result of high street shops
struggling due to the coronavirus lockdown and to the growth of online
shopping.
The retailer wishes to show how online shopping can be
leveraged. Marks
& Spencer’s chief executive advanced “People think of the store
portfolio as being an albatross around our neck but I don’t think it is, I
think we are going to have a multichannel proposition so we can be where our
customers want and they can choose how quickly they want it”.
