This is the last article in the series exploring steps to
take to ensure mobile app security.
Third-party libraries
When creating your code, you have complete control over it and you will make
sure that it is free from errors, bugs and vulnerabilities. However, things can
go wrong if the code with flaws from a third-party
service integrates with your app. Unfortunately, you will not be able to do
much if your user data leaks from a third-party application. Thus, you must be
wary of these. It is best if your application does not share any sensitive data
with these libraries and use those that comply with popular security
standard such as GDPR.
Less data is better
A strategy by marketers is to capture as much information about customers as
possible. This will allow them to design personalised promotional offers etc.
However, the more data stored on your app, the greater your responsibility and
you are more at risk in the case of an attack. Thus, wherever possible,
minimise the amount of information collected.
Mobile app security training
Another tip is to make sure that you and your team are educated about the best cybersecurity
practices. This will ensure that no human mistakes will be made to put your app
at risk. Thus, invest in proper training.
