TikTok is testing a ‘Stories’ format

Like several other social media companies, TikTok is looking at the ‘Stories’ format. This feature is being tested and the aim behind this move is to allow the video sharing firm is to explore additional ways for its community to create contents and bring their ideas to life.

The company has noted that this tool is not meant to replace other features such as videos, Duets, Stitch and LIVE; it is an additional one. It did not reveal much about this pilot. For instance, they did not disclose how long the tests will run or whether it would result in a public launch if successful. Nonetheless, we do know that this is a fairly recent thing and it is not available in the US. It is being run in non-US markets to allow the firm to gain feedback and insight from users.

To create their first story, users have to tap a camera button from the navigation bar on the left side of the screen on the mobile app. Then, they can use common tools to add text or stickers or to insert sounds. Like other social media platforms, they can choose to record videos or upload photos. However, there is a little difference. On TikTok, other users can publicly comment on the creator’s content. This means that mutual friends can see each other’s comments.
